2017 AUGUST CLASSES

INTRODUCTION TO DRAWING with Anna Peacock– 5 weeks/7.5 hours (Teens & Adults)

DATES & TIME:
Session 1 (Tuesday-afternoon):   3:30PM – 5PM, Aug 1st through August 29 
Session 2 (Tuesday-evening):     5:30PM – 7PM, Aug 1st through August 29 

COST:  $75 members; $90 non-members (excludes materials) 

COURSE DESCRIPTION: 
Whether you’re new to art or looking to improve your knowledge on essential drawing techniques this class is for you.  You will learn about perspective, shading, light, shadow, form, and color. The final lesson will pull together the methods learned with a study creating contours (outlines) of plant forms to sharpen your observational skills. (NOTE: Teen classes will include techniques for creating graffiti lettering and anime.)   

MATERIALS LIST:
• Drawing pad (min. size 9.5 x 11)  • Colored pencils         • Erasers:  Pink pearl & Kneaded
• Pencils:  H, 2H, B, 2B, 4B, 6B          • Crayons (at least 12) • Sharpies  (teen class only)

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: 
Miss Peacock earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Art from Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma (1982).  She taught art at a Public Middle School in the Bronx, NY for ten years.

CREATIVE WRITING WITH PAT WILLIAMS– 5 weeks/7.5 hours (Ages 14 and up, or permission) 

DATES & TIME:  
Session 1 (Wednesday-afternoon):   1:30PM – 3PM, August 2nd through August 30

COST: $75 members; $90 non-members (excludes materials)

COURSE DESCRIPTION: 
Polish your current writing ability and develop expertise with your chosen topics.  Learn exposition, dialog, essay, and reports.  

MATERIALS LIST: 

Writing pad and pencil or pen.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: 
Pat Williams has retired from teaching language arts, literature, Shakespeare, public speaking, and theatre at Stroudsburg High School; but she continues her career teaching.  First she taught two years at the Evergreen Charter School in Cresco, then for 10 years at the Older Adult Learning Center through East Stroudsburg University.  Now, she leads two classes on The Bard at the Barrett Paradise Friendly Library in Cresco and Hughes Library in Stroudsburg.  She was a reporter for the Pocono Record and also the theater critic.
