Board of Directors

President - Mary B. Ruvane

Mary is the founder of the Little Green Bookshop and an avid fan of the cultural arts, in all its forms (performing, visual, literary). Mary holds a B.F.A. from Syracuse University (1978), and an M.S. in Information Science (2007) and Ph.D. (2013) from the School of Information & Library Science, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Mary’s career spans over 40 years in the building, design, and resort operations industry, including positions as a designer, computer aided design sales and marketing manager, facilities project manager, real estate sales, and sole-proprietor of an interior design firm. Mary’s desire to constantly learn new things led her to pursue degrees in information management, with a focus on the use of digital tools for archiving and humanities research. While at UNC-CH she taught graduate level course work and was a team member on various funded projects. Throughout her high school and college years Mary held summer positions with the Buck Hill Falls Company, including 3 years as the art counselor of their children’s camp. One of Mary’s favorite high school summer jobs was as an intern for the Pocono Playhouse. 

Vice President Jacob Shoesmith-Fox

Jacob is the co-founder and Artistic Director of Theatrical Gems, a non-profit organization that strives to educate audiences about the past, present, and future of theater. His organization produces entertaining plays of popular classics, new works, and underappreciated relics for local audiences to enjoy. Jacob holds a B.S. in Arts Administration from Wagner University (2009). After graduating he spent 5 months interning in development and education at the Vineyard Theatre in NYC and was their Assistant Director of Are We Writing Loud Enough. He has directed full productions of Little Shop of Horrors and How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying as well as various readings and workshops. Jacob worked as an actor for most of his childhood at the Pocono Playhouse and other locations in his hometown and appeared in NYC in The Car (2007), Short Attention Span Horror Festival and the film Wet Hot American Summer. From 2006 to 2009 he produced The Vagina Monologues on Staten Island, making him the only male V-Day producer in the region. Jacob has been involved with the Buck Hill Skytop Music Festival since 2012, and in 2015 was promoted to the role of general manager.

Secretary - Eileen M. Ruvane

Eileen is a professional writer, entrepreneur, and self-confessed book addict. Eileen’s career includes a decade on Wall Street as VP and Manager of Public Relations at PaineWebber; 20 years as an independent Communications Consultant, writing advertising, marketing and web copy for corporate clients; and 20 years as Co-Founder and Co-Owner of Barley Creek Brewing Company, an awesome restaurant and brewpub in Tannersville, PA. In addition to being a long-time member of a local book club, Eileen is also a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators. She and her husband, Trip, live in Barrett Township and are parents to three amazing children.

Treasurer -  Douglas W. Smith 

Doug is an expert in the field of hospitality, hotel management, tourism, and sales and marketing. A life-long resident of the Pocono’s Doug has over 40 years’ experience in promoting local tourism, event planning, and overseeing facility operations. His career includes 11 years as VP of Conference Services at the Buck Hill Inn, 11 years as Director of Sales and Marketing at the Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort, 10 years with the Pocono Mountains Visitor Bureau as Director of Tourism Sales, and 10 years as General Manager of The Crossings Premium Outlets in Tannersville.
